Benefits of Using Externally Fed Rotary Drum Screen

UBO Externally Fed Drum Screens consist of a stainless steel screen drum contained in a stainless steel tank. The drum consists of a wedge wire screen. Due to the trapezoidal screen slots, solids contained in the waste water are retained. Waste water is conveyed through a distributor onto the external surface of the drum screen. The side sealing consists of nylon sliding blocks. Solids are retained on the external surface of the drum screen and subsequently discharged. The drum is cleaned by means of a brass plate.

After passing through the inside of the drum screen, clean water is collected on the bottom of the tank and discharged through a nozzle. Rotation of the filter occurs by coupling connection to a gear reducer mounted at the end of the drum. At the opposite end a cleaning system is installed. The system is composed of a pipe equipped with a high pressure nozzle which periodically cleans the filtering drum (mobile washing system). The system has to be connected to the water mains.

UBO Externally Fed Rotary Drum Screen is a reliable self-cleaning wedge wire screen for both municipal wastewater operations as well as many industrial screen applications. This screening technology performs particularly well in wastewater with high oil or grease loadings as well as scum applications that can blind other types of screens.

Within municipal wastewater UBO screens are used for fine screening primary sewage influent at the headworks as well as screening of clarifier scum. Other industrial screen applications that commonly use externally fed drum screens include meat and poultry processing, seafood offal effluent, pulp and paper debarking, etc.

UBO Externally Fed Rotary Drum Screen are constructed slotted stainless wedge wire, cylindrical drums that rotate on two pillow block bearings. The screen typically has lot openings range from 0.100 to 0.010 inches. These screens feature 100% overflow protection from blinding for flows up to 5.0 mgd.
